NIC JONSSON BIOGRAPHY:

Nic Jonsson co-drives with Tracy Krohn in the No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTE-Am. Also drives the No. 76 Ford Krohn Racing Daytona Prototype at Circuit of the Americas for March Grand-Am race with co-driver Tracy W. Krohn. Third in GTE-Am championship in 2012 with five (5) podium finishes – one second place and four third place finishes. GTE-Am class winner at the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans and third at 6 Hours of Zhuhai (China) in 2011. Runner-up in the 2011 ILMC GTE-Am class Team Championship. Finished third at the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans, 6 Hours of Silverstone and 6 Hours of Bahrain in the GTE-Am class; Second at the 6 Hours of Fuji; Third in GT2 class in Ferrari 430 GT in 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans and second at 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans. Has two victories in Grand-Am DP in 2009, along with another podium and two podium finishes in 2008. Has one Grand-Am pole in May 2010. Competed in Rolex Grand-Am Series since 2001. Continental Tire Sports Car Series ST class Driver and Team Champion in 2011 with factory Kia team. Former IRL and Indy Lights driver. Also competed in NASCAR in 2007.

2014 – WON THE LONG BEACH PIRELLI WORLD CHALLENGE “THE ROAR BY THE SHORE” RACE PRESENTED BY KIA MOTORS.

2012 – Driver of the No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTE-Am with teammates Tracy Krohn and Michele Rugolo. Competed in 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship in the GTE-Am class, finishing third in championship. Finished second at the 6 Hours of Fuji; third in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 6 Hours of Silverstone, 6 Hours of Bahrain and 6 Hours of Shanghai; fifth at the 12 Hours of Sebring, seventh at the 6 Hours of Spa and a DNF at Sao Paulo. Also drove the No. 76 Ford Krohn Racing Daytona Prototype with Krohn, Ricardo Zonta and Colin Braun at Rolex 24 at Daytona to 11th place.

2011 – Drove the No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari 430 GTE-Am with teammates Tracy Krohn and Michele Rugolo. GTE-Am class winner at the two 2011 ILMC U.S. rounds at 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans; finished 3rd at Zhuhai, China finale, seventh at 6 Hours of Imola and 6 Hours of Silverstone, seventh at Spa 1000km, and DNF at 24 Hours of Le Mans. Finished second in points in GTE-Am class Team Championship. Also drove the No. 76 Ford Krohn Racing Daytona Prototype at the Rolex 24 at Daytona race with teammates Tracy Krohn, Ricardo Zonta and Nicolas Minassian to a sixth-place finish.

2010 – Driver of No. 75 Ford Krohn Racing Daytona Prototype with team owner/driver Tracy Krohn. Finished 4th in the Rolex 24 At Daytona race, also with Ricardo Zonta and Colin Braun. Collected first Grand-Am Prototype pole position at Lime Rock Park in May. Finished 6th at the Daytona 250, 7th at Montreal, 9th at Lime Rock Park, 10th at Miller Motorsports Park, 11th at Barber, VIR and the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen race, 12th at Mid-Ohio and 13th at the Miami Grand Prix, New Jersey Motorsports Park and Watkins Glen 200. Also running a factory Kia Forte Koup in the ST class of Grand-Am’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series. Competed at the 12 Hours of Sebring in Risi-Krohn Ferrari 430 with Krohn and Eric van de Poele to a seventh place finish in GT2. The trio had a DNF at the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Jonsson and Krohn finished ninth in class and 16th overall in the ALMS 6 Hours of Monterey race.

2009 – Driver of No. 76 Ford Krohn Racing Daytona Prototype in the Grand-Am Rolex Series, teamed with Ricardo Zonta. Won the May New Jersey Motorsports Park race, his second career DP victory. Collected another victory at Watkins Glen in August 2009. Finished 2nd at Mid-Ohio in June and 5th at Barber in July. At Laguna Seca, started 6th, finished 15th in class after suffering damage in an off-course excursion in the corkscrew. At VIR started 6th, finished 16th in class after suffering damage when hit from behind. Also finished 16th at Daytona July race with Turner. Drove Rolex 24 At Daytona with Zonta and Darren Turner. Finished 18th in class/46th overall after an engine component problem. In June finished 3rd in GT2 class at the 24 Hour of Le Mans and 6th in class, 13th overall at ALMS 12 Hours of Sebring race with Nic Jonsson and Eric van de Poele in Risi-Krohn Ferrari 430 GT.

2008 – Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype – Finished 4th overall at 24 Hours of Daytona in Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley with Ricardo Zonta and Darren Turner. Finished 11th in Krohn Racing Daytona Prototype debut at Homestead-Miami Speedway with Zonta. Had two podium finishes — at Mexico City and Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona (both third-place). Finished fifth at Watkins Glen 200, Montreal, Sears Point and Miller; 9th at Laguna Seca and Mid-Ohio, 10th at Six Hours of the Glen, 12th at Montreal, 13th at New Jersey and Barber and 16th at VIR; Tied for 8th in DP Team Championship. Finished third in class at ALMS 12 Hours of Sebring with Tracy Krohn and Eric van de Poele in a Risi-Krohn Ferrari 430 GT in March 2008 and competed at the 2008 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

2007 – Selected rounds of American Le Mans Series with Risi Competizione in a Ferrari F430 GT2; Sebring 12 Hours (9th), Le Mans 24 Hours with Krohn/Braun (2nd), Petit Le Mans in a Risi/Krohn Ferrari 430 (Krohn/Turner) (DNF), Laguna Seca with Krohn (8th); 3rd at Long Beach and Lime Rock. Shared Krohn Racing Daytona Pontiac Riley with team owner Tracy Krohn or Colin Braun in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series – finishing 4th overall; Selected Grand-Am Cup races in a Kinetic BMW M3.

2006 – Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series with Krohn Racing in a Daytona Prototype – 5th at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, finished all but two of 14 races in the Top 20. Debuted at 24 Hours of Le Mans in White Lightning Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.

2005 – Made 14 Rolex Grand-Am Series Prototype starts, recording his first-career Daytona Prototype victory at the Six Hours of The Glen with teammate Krohn. Finished fourth overall in Prototype championship; Sebring 12 Hours with J3 Racing in a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR – 2nd in GT class.

2004 – Made two Rolex Series starts in the GT class, earning a best class result of eighth in the Rolex 24 At Daytona; SCCA SPEED World Challenge in a BMW 325 Ci – 2nd overall, one victory and four further podiums.

2003 – SPEED World Challenge Touring (7 races) in a BMW 325Ci and one SPEED GT race in a BMW M3 with 3 Top 10 finishes — season best 7th place at Road Atlanta and Mid-Ohio; ALMS 12 Hours of Sebring with Petersen/White Lightning in Porsche 911 – 2nd in GT2 class.

2002- Made six Rolex Series starts in the SRPII class – class victory at Phoenix, 4th in championship; Grand-Am with Rand Racing in a Nissan Lola – won first race at Phoenix with Marino Franchitti.

2001- American Le Mans Series with PTG BMW M3 GTR – 4th at Sears Point and Mid-Ohio, finished third in class for season; Rolex 24 At Daytona for Dyson Racing – 3rd in SPR class.

2000 – American Le Mans Series and European Le Mans Series with PTG BMW M3 GTR finishing 3rd at Laguna Seca, 4th Nuerburgring, Portland, Las Vegas and Adelaide; Two races in IRL Series – 12th at Orlando.

1999 – American Le Mans Series with Intersport in a Lola B98-Ford (3 races) with Jon Field; IRL with Blueprint Racing (2 races).

1998 – Retained by Lola UK as test driver.

1996-7 Test driver for Andesigns, Inc. and Lola UK; Competed in Indy Lights.

1995 – Formula Asia series in Argo Honda – five wins, nine podiums, 2nd overall.

1994 – Became a Reynard factory test driver; Scandinavian Formula Three Championship – 2 wins and a further podium; Scandinavian Touring Car Championship (3 races) – 2 wins and a further podium.

1993 – European Formula 3 Series – 2 wins, total 4 podiums.

1992 – Swedish Group N Touring Car Championship – 5 wins in 6 races, Champion.

1991 – Scandinavian F3 Championship – 5 wins in 7 races, Champion.

1990 – Scandinavian F3 Championship in a Reynard Honda – 5 wins in 7 races, Champion.

1989 – Made professional start in the Scandinavian Formula Three series in a Reynard Toyota – 3 podium finishes, 4th overall.

1984-7 Karting – Three-time winner National Karting event.

Trained Swedish royal family and secret-service agents in high-performance and self-defense driving. Has a college degree in psychology and speech therapy. Further degrees in sports physical therapy and carpentry. Co-owner of Kinetic Speed Shop in Buford, GA.
